Trust me – I speak from experience. I admit, as an Event Planner for years, I was a bit of a control freak on my own wedding day, I didn’t have much faith in the venue co-ordinator unfortunately which fuelled my need to control! And control I did ! In one way, it was a good thing as there were failures on the part of the venue, but what I remember most, is the things that went wrong, spending time fretting and then when I finally relaxed towards the end of the night it was nearly all over. My bridesmaid had the brunt of it too … she felt the need to jump in and help, so basically we both felt like we were back working !
That might be an extreme view and venues are much more switched on these days regarding supporting you and helping your vision come to life, however, the co-ordinator the venue allocates you on the day, will purely represent their contracted part of the day with you – they will manage their staff, the timeline, the set up of the spaces, the health & safety and the overall operation of the day, making sure they deliver what you have asked for.
So a Venue Co-ordinator and a Wedding Day Co-ordinator: are not the same, not in areas of responsibility or activities they will take on.
Your Wedding Day Co-ordinator will represent you and their focus is the whole day – this can start from the time you and your bridal party are getting ready right through to the end of the night if you wish. We will ensure the flow of the event, support your other suppliers, make sure your guests have what they need and also get involved in problem-solving, managing emotions, last-minute changes, and decisions which you can’t expect the venue to take care of. We can also be there to represent and support you in case of any conflicts with the venue and the suppliers.

- We act as your “Master of Ceremonies”
- We will assist getting guests seated, announce the couple’s arrival, first dance, speeches, cutting of cake and so on. We will help photographer if they need us to gather the group shots. Rather than have a formal and expensive Toastmaster, we can bring an air of informal and light-hearted hosting as part of the work we are doing already.
