Honouring and celebrating every path of life’s journey.

Other Ceremonies - Adoption

Adoption

How you honour and celebrate an adoption will of course depend on the age of the child you are adopting. If you’re adopting a baby or toddler, you may want to go along the same style as a Naming Day ceremony and create an informal welcoming day involving family and friends and maybe add an inclusive mini-ceremony such as a sand unity. If it is an older child involved but you still want to arrange some kind of welcome, we can talk through ideas about how to make them welcome and comfortable and what level of involvement will be appropriate whilst making it a fun event.

Gender Recognition & Transition

Gender recognition and transition is a massive part of our world and adds to the list of life’s “rite of passages”. I was inspired by the story of a Canadian Father who threw a party for his son’s start to transition and so wanted to create a gentle ceremonial offering for individuals, parents or partners to include in any celebration they are organising. Just the same as all my ceremonies, I’m guided by you as to the style and content.

Internment or Scattering of Ashes

After a cremation, the time varies on how long a family will hold their loved ones ashes with many choosing a specific anniversary and of course, a special place to scatter ashes or, they may have plans to intern the ashes in a chosen burial plot. It’s often left to a family member to say a few words so this is where a Celebrant can come in to produce and present something to honour your loved one. It can be particularly relevant in the case of the large increase in direct cremations, families are often comforted by the ability to have their own memorial along with someone to lead this for them.

Pet Funerals

Our pets are a huge part of our families and lives and their deaths can affect us all deeply. Pet funerals are a lovely way to honour the life of your pet and allow everyone to say their goodbyes. This is common practice at many pet crematoriums but of course can be conducted wherever you choose to lay your beloved pet to rest. Children especially are often anxious to mark a pets passing but it may be the first time they are experience grief so a little ceremony can help everyone to come together and mark how important that pet was in their lives.

“This is Your Life” Presentations

For those of you like me, brought up in the 70’s and 80’s it’s likely that at some point you watched “This is Your Life” – a biographical TV show with a light hearted theme which ran for almost 50 years, where the host surprises a special guest, usually a celebrity, before taking them through their life with stories read from the “big red book” and surprise appearances and speeches from special people in their lives. I am a big “celebrator of our life’s journey” and got to thinking of all the stories and people that have made up our lives over the years and how often we don’t capture those memories, they just stay tucked away in our minds and brought up sporadically at get togethers. So I have created an offering where I will act as your presenter at milestone birthday parties or anniversaries for family or friends – surprise or non-surprise - and work with you to create their own “This is Your Life” story which will also be presented in their very own presentation script.
